Piano Safari Friends
A Playful First Step into Piano
Piano Safari Friends introduces young children to the piano through an active, imaginative approach designed especially for beginning musicians. Each class combines music, movement, listening, singing, and hands-on piano experiences to help children learn naturally while having fun.
Is My Four-Year-Old Ready?
Children develop at different rates. A four-year-old is usually ready for Piano Safari Friends when they can follow simple directions, participate in a group, and stay engaged in short activities with support. If your child is not quite ready, that is perfectly okay! Waiting until age five can make their first piano experience more successful and enjoyable. We are always happy to help families decide when the time is right.
Students will begin developing:
-Healthy hand position and piano technique
-Finger numbers and keyboard geography
-Rhythm, steady beat, and coordination
-Listening and musical memory
-Confidence and creative expression
-Social skills through group activities and ensemble playing
Short, simple practice activities at home help reinforce what students are learning in class. Parents are always welcome to stay, participate, and support their child when needed.
Ages 6 - 7 years
Piano Safari
Piano Safari gives beginning and continuing students a well-rounded foundation in piano and musicianship. Its creative approach combines learning by ear with music reading, technique, rhythm, improvisation, and expressive playing.
Classes include movement, singing, musical games, partner activities, and ensemble experiences that keep children actively involved and excited to learn.
Does My Child Need Previous Piano Experience?
No previous piano experience is needed! Piano Safari is designed for beginners as well as students who have already had some musical experience. Children are typically ready when they can follow directions, participate in a group, and complete short practice assignments at home with a parent’s support. We are happy to help determine whether Piano Safari is the right fit for your child.
Students will develop:
-Strong, healthy piano technique
-Music-reading and rhythm skills
-Listening and ear-training skills
-Coordination and keyboard confidence
-Creativity through improvisation
-Expression and musical understanding
-Confidence playing independently and with others
Parents are welcome to observe, participate in class, and help their child as needed. Audio tracks and online practice resources also make it easier and more enjoyable to continue learning at home.
Ages 8 -11 years
Presto
Presto teaches so much more than piano!
We teach COMPLETE musicianship: vocal training, ear training, sight reading, music theory, rhythm, music history, proper piano technique, and we do it in a fun, snappy style that tweens love!
Most likely, those students who already have had a year or so of piano haven't studied all areas of music.
In fact, they most likely have only dabbled a little in rhythm, have some note reading skills, and developed some finger strength. We include an optional "challenge" section written into the Presto curriculum to satisfy the appetite of hard-working students and that of students who already have finger dexterity built from previous piano lessons.
In Presto, our students learn music history, classical music, sight singing, ear training and music theory. We are building complete musicians, rather than just pianists, so our students can accompany themselves, sing in harmony, transpose, compose, and excel in any other music endeavor.

Do caregivers attend with their children?
Yes — all Music & Movement classes are caregiver and child together, at every age level.
How frequently are classes held?
Each class meets once per week for 45 minutes, running 15 classes per semester (summer sessions run on their own shorter schedule.
Are there materials to purchase?
No — there are no materials to purchase for Sweet Peas, Periwinkles, or Tots. Everything needed is provided in class
Can siblings or friends attend class?
Older siblings or friends who aren't registered may not attend class unless a prior arrangement has been made with the instructor.
Can I join after the semester has started?
Yes — you can join anytime during the semester if space is available. If you join after the semester start, your membership fee will be prorated based on the classes remaining.
Which class is right for my childs age?
Sweet Peas fits ages 3–11 months, Periwinkles fits 12–24 months, and Tots fits 2–3 years. If your child is near a boundary, our team is happy to help you choose the best fit.
