What to Expect

Our percussion instructors will provide you with the fundamental techniques for the most common percussion instruments: Drum kit, Snare, Bass, Crash Cymbals, Keyboard Percussion, Tambourine, Triangle, Suspended Cymbal, Marimba, Etc. From instrument setup to maintenance to performance techniques, they will cover the essential skills necessary for today's all-around percussionist. ​Become familiar with instrument characteristics, maintenance routines, tuning, mallet selection and general playing techniques on the most common instruments as well as marching percussion.

About Private Lessons

Practice is mandatory for private lessons. Parents of younger students must commit to assisting their child with daily practice.

Instrument: Student must have a good quality instrument for lessons. No "toy" stringed instruments, please. We would be happy to help you find an instrument to rent or purchase!

Suggested Daily Practice:
Ages 6-8: 15-20 min
Ages 9-13: 30 - 40 min
Ages 14 and above: 45 - 60 min

The students are invited to participate in two recitals each year: winter (late November or early December)
and spring, (late April or early May).
There is a recital fee of $25 due in November and April.

$50.00 Registration Fee
30 minutes: $38.00 per lesson/$152.00 monthly

45 minutes: $57.00 per lesson/$228.00 monthly

60 minutes: $76.00 per lesson/$304.00 monthly

2# 2 What days of the week are drums and percussion lessons offered?
Lessons are available 7 days a week
3#3 Do I need to have a drum set at home?
No. Students can start lessons by using a practice pad for learning basic drum rhythms. You will need drum sticks. Our instructors can help you by offering suggestions at the demo about the correct items to purchase
4#4 Do you teach adults?
Absolutely! We have a number of adult students at all skill levels
5#5 What if I miss a lesson?
As much advance notice as possible will help us to schedule makeup lessons. Make-ups for missed lessons are at the discretion of the instructor and cannot be guaranteed.
6#6 Can I request a specific instructor?
Yes. When our office contacts you to set up a demo lesson, just let us know if you prefer a particular instructor.
