Luanne Harms, Founder and Executive Director of The Music Garden
Where Musicians Bloom – Every Age, Every Stage
Music has always been at the center of Luanne Harms’ life. From family sing-alongs and church choirs to musical theater and school ensembles, her journey began with a deep love of sharing music with others. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education in Voice and Piano from Wichita State University (1987) and has devoted more than three decades to inspiring students of all ages to discover their own musical potential.
A Lifelong Music Educator
Luanne’s teaching experience spans public and private schools, as well as thousands of private and group piano and voice lessons over the past 30+ years. She has taught every age from infants to adults, served as both middle and high school choir director, and led numerous musical theater productions as both actor and director for more than 40 years. As a performer, she has sung in choirs and ensembles across the country and continues to perform today with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Trey Clegg Singers, and the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Choir.
The Birth of The Music Garden
In 1995, Luanne founded The Music Garden in Washington State with a simple vision: to make high-quality, joyful music education accessible to families. When she and her husband Bill relocated with their children—Jacquelyn, Allessandra, and Christian—to Peachtree City, Georgia, she brought that vision with her. What started in 2012 as a one-room studio in West Park Walk has grown into South Atlanta’s largest and most trusted music school, now located in MacDuff Crossing with more than 25 teachers and staff and over 500 students learning piano, voice, guitar, drums, violin, and more.
Excellence, Heart, and Community
Luanne’s mission is to provide every student and family with the best possible music education in a caring, family-oriented environment. She continually invests in new teaching methods, faculty training, and curriculum development to ensure The Music Garden remains a place where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired. She is certified in Let’s Play Music, Sound Beginnings, and Let’s Play Music Presto, and actively researches new educational programs to keep The Music Garden’s offerings fresh, engaging, and age-appropriate for each stage of musical development.
