2025 Private Lesson Membership Policies
Our instructors reserve time on their schedules, plan for your lessons, and invest in the long-term development of each student. To provide regular, quality lessons, the following policies need to be observed.

MEMBERSHIP TUITION:
- A non-refundable registration fee of $50 is due at initial membership sign-up.
- Returning Member is a member with one (1) or more gaps in enrollment.
- Tuition is a flat monthly fee. Most months have four (4) or five (5) lessons, and on rare occasions, three (3) lessons when in observance of major national holidays (See our calendar)
- Tuition is due on the first of each month and is billed automatically via credit card or ACH payments. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. ("Autopay")
- A $25 late fee will be charged for payment received after the 10th of each month for non-auto pay members.
- A $25 fee will be charged for each returned check.
- Included in the membership:
- Regular weekly lesson time with your instructor. (Except when the studio is closed for holidays. See our calendar.)
- Two (2) yearly recital performance opportunities, Spring and Winter Recitals, on a first-come first-serve basis. Accompaniments are included in membership. Recital fees will be charged at the beginning of the month of the recital.
- Educational material, music books, instrument rental, and other accessories are additional costs.
- Members may purchase additional exam or recital preparation lessons.
ATTENDANCE:
- Students are expected to be punctual to their weekly lessons.
- Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed their lesson time. Without proper notification, the instructor may leave after 10 minutes.
MISSED LESSON:
- No tuition credit or refund will be provided for missed lessons.
- A Make-up Lesson Credit will be issued when a lesson is cancelled with at least 24-hour advance notice (by email or online).
- Cancellations made with less than 24-hour notice will not qualify for a Make-up Lesson Credit. (This includes being sick the day of a scheduled lesson.)
- No more than three (3) Make-up Lesson Credits can be pending at a time per membership.
- A make-up lesson credit can be used to schedule a make-up lesson with your instructor when they are available. This can be booked online or through the front desk.
- Make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.
- Make-up Lesson Credit(s) expires 30 days after being issued.
MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION:
- A 30-day notice must be received by the Front Desk to cancel membership. There are no exceptions.
- You are responsible for payment for the 30 days after your notice once it has been received.
- Active membership is mandatory to participate in our events, exams, and recitals. All registrations will be withdrawn at the time of membership cancellation.
- All Make-up Lesson Credits on your account expire in 30 days from the effective cancellation date.
- Membership is not transferable.
- The Music Garden does not provide tuition refunds under any circumstances.
- The Music Garden reserves the right to terminate membership, in which case prorated tuition will be refunded.
MEMBERSHIP PAUSE:
- One (1) two-week pause may be used per calendar year. This pause must be arranged through the front desk prior to being taken.
- The two weeks taken must be consecutive and within the same month.
INSTRUCTOR CHANGES:
- You may decide to change instructor or instrument with a 14-day advance notice before the first of the month.
- Regular lesson cancellation policy applies to substitute instructors. No Make-up Credit is issued for last-minute substitutions.
- If your instructor becomes unavailable for regular lessons, you will be provided with a new instructor with a similar teaching style, or the opportunity to choose a new instructor.
CARE OF STUDENTS:
- The Music Garden is not responsible for providing before or after class care for students.
- It is the parent's responsibility to walk their child into the studio or classroom as well as pick them up, unless other arrangements have been made with the instructor.
MEDICAL DISCLOSURE:
- If your child is under any medication or has a food allergy/sensitivity which you are aware of, or if there is any other special situation relating to your child, please discuss it with the instructor.
- You assume all risk of injury or harm to the child(ren) or adult(s) associated with participation in musical activities at The Music Garden and agree to release, indemnify, defend, and forever discharge The Music Garden and its officers and staff from all liability, claims, demands, damages, costs, and expenses in the unlikely event of injury sustained by your child(ren) or adult student during the course or as a result of their participation in Music Garden musical activities.
PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE:
- Unless requested in writing to Front Desk, The Music Garden is granted permission to take photographs/videos of the students to use in brochures, websites, posters, advertisements, social media, and other promotional materials that The Music Garden creates. Permission is also hereby granted for The Music Garden to copyright such photographs in its name.
DISCLAIMER:
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
Policy effective upon enrollment and cooperation is greatly appreciated. Policies and terms are subject to change.
MISSED CLASSES:
- In the event a class must be cancelled due to inclement weather or instructor absence, every effort will be made to offer a make-up lesson, however, it is not guaranteed.
- If the student is absent due to illness or family emergency, the student (or parent) may request to attend another class within the same week. This is not guaranteed due to class capacity.
CANCELLATION:
- The Music Garden reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, students will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If a student does not enroll in another class, they will receive a full refund.
WITHDRAWAL AND REFUNDS:
- Withdrawal from a group class must be given a 30-day notice in which the next month will be paid. (i.e. Notice given in middle of September, October tuition still due)
- Withdrawal from Let's Play Music (Years 1, 2, 3), Presto (I or II), or Bridge, payment is still due for the entire current semester after notice is given.

- Mobile information will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. If you wish to be removed from receiving future communications, you can opt out by texting STOP.
