What to Expect
Classes meet one time per week
Tots is part of a unique series of creative movement music programs created to foster critical development in children ages 3 months to 4 years.
In every class, we connect a movement concept with a “matching” music concept and use a “move to learn, learn to move” approach. Each week there is a focus on one music and movement concept, and every class activity reinforces that single concept pairing. For example, when learning about pitch (the highness or lowness of a sound), we will pair the level (highness or lowness) of our bodies with the pitch of the music.
There will be lots of moving. The movement concepts taught support the development of fundamental movement skills, which will carry children forward into every kind of physical activity (sports, dance, etc.) when they’re older.
Every class will include opportunities to use props (scarves, balance-building obstacles, and so on) as well as play on instruments (rhythm sticks, maracas, bells, drums, etc.).
About the Class
TOTS: AGE 2 – 3 YEARS
- Classes held once a week, caregiver attends every week, 15 classes per semester, 45 minutes in length.
- Tots offers a lively environment for independent movers and their caregivers to experience the joy of dance and music together.
- Tots love to figure things out – this class will provide opportunities to problem solve together. Animated story telling, songs, instruments, and simple choreography will and to the fun and excitement.
